7-Day Schedule

A Typical Week's Schedule

7- Day Adventure Sleepaway

SUNDAY

Drop-off @ 2:00 PM: The dropoff location is the Aspen Middle School located at 90 County Rd. A, Aspen CO 81611.  Follow signs down the stairs towards the football field to enter our basecamp location inside the building.  Here, we will check the campers in, make sure you didn’t forget anything, answer any questions and then head out into the mountains to 8K Ranch – the home of Ajax Sleepaway.

Afternoon: Campers will be introduced to their bunks.  New for 2018, the Tipis will be scattered throughout the 200 acre ranch for activity locations and the bunks will be giant “glamping”-style platform tents (picture a safari-type village). Each camper will have an assigned bed with their hoodies and welcome package waiting for them.  The campers will set up their bunks and meet their counselors.  That afternoon their bunk counselors will introduce them to camp life, show them the ranch, say hi to the animals, and help all the campers start to bond with some fun rocky mountain-style team building leadership games.

Dinner Time: Prior to dinner, the entire camp community will gather for some pre-dinner camp traditions including music/dance/games.  For dinner on the first night the menu will be:

  • Green Salad
  • Garlic Bread
  • Spagetti
  • Choice of vegetarian sauce, meat sauce, or butter sauce (for the picky eaters).
  • Sautéed or grilled vegetables
  • For the very picky eaters (let us know prior the the week at camp and we can accommodate)
  • Desert (S’Mores around the campfire)

After Dinner Activities: Counselors will offer 4 different after dinner activities for campers to choose basing the selections off of the following list: Ultimate Frisbee, Forest Disk Golf, Bocce Ball, Hillside Adventure Croquet, Golf-Ball Horse Shoes, Crafts Projects, Music Making, Line Dancing, No-Match Campfire Building, Board Games, and other after dinner activities that either campers request or counselors invent throughout the summer.

Night-Time Campfire: Every night we will have a campfire.  S’mores will be roasted (yes, every night… sorry parents, but we can’t resist!).  Songs will be sung as the evening stars illuminate the sky.  8K Ranch has some of the best sunsets and stargazing in all of Colorado.

Bedtime: After the campfire, campers will head up to their bunks.  Brush their teeth and get ready for bed.  We ask that all campers respect the lights out and quiet time, as a good night sleep is essential for energetic and fun days!
