One more summer at camp — with a few extra perks, and a few extra responsibilities.
Who qualifies
Still a camper — just a little older
Camp is built for kids ages 8–13, but we make one exception: we welcome 14-year-olds back as Ajax Elders — only if they’ve attended Ajax Sleepaway in the past.
Ajax Elders still get to be campers at camp! They just earn some additional perks and, in exchange, take on some additional responsibilities as leaders and role models for the younger kids.

Extra perks for Ajax Elders on our two-week sessions.
Town Night
Head into Basalt once per session for a movie and pizza — a night off the ranch just for Elders.
Design Your Own Activity
Team up with a counselor to build your own camp activity, then offer it to the whole camp during the session.
Ajax Elder Hat
A special hat, worn only by Ajax Elders. You've earned it.
Stay-Up Night
One night per session, stay up past regular camp bedtime — dessert included.
Sleep In… Sort Of
Get to wake up 30 minutes before everyone else. (Haha — just kidding, 14-year-olds.)

Help Serve Meals
Pitch in at mealtimes to help keep camp running smoothly.
Help With Food Deliveries
Lend a hand with food delivery shipments when they arrive.
Be a Role Model
Act as a role model for campers of all ages. We expect you to exhibit the behavior of a great camper — the younger kids will all be looking up to you.
A note on the privilege
Attending camp as an Ajax Elder is a privilege. We reserve the right to kindly request that 14-year-olds who cannot act as great role models do not attend camp. If you are a 14-year-old attending as an Ajax Elder, you agree to the above.
